Multimodal Image Analysis



About:

Brain and spine imaging techniques includes MRI, PET, CT ,SPECT etc which play important roles in elucidating structural and functional properties in normal and diseased brain and spine. It is believed that these modalities provide different distinct yet complementary information that are effective in understanding the working dynamics of the brain and spine. Effective registration, fusion, segmentation, functional mapping and 3D reconstruction of images from multiple sources, pose a new challenging problems due to variations in imaging resolutions and spatial-temporal dynamics are involved in characterizing and analyzing images.

The objective of the team is advancement in the field of multimodal image analysis using PET and MRI, in terms of methodologies, algorithms, software systems, hardware implementations, validation approaches,3D modeling and reconstruction, developing ground truth benchmark datasets for better understanding of the medical images and assistance to medical professional for better more accurate diagnosis.
